“1. Franny’s Folly — The top family vacation rental in Cape May”
So says Long & Foster — but the only way you can rent it is through capemayrentals.com it was named the top vacation rental in Cape May by Long & Foster Real Estate.
If you want to know what summer life was like—for the lucky few—in Victorian Cape May, this is the place to be. High ceilings—original gilt mirrors—massive period furniture, large, airy rooms—an expansive, fully-fenced garden—off-street parking for four cars—and a whole lot more—make this house truly unique. There are double porches front and rear. The front porches overlook the ocean. The rear porches overlook the garden. There are screened porches on the ground floor, front, and rear.
The house has unobstructed ocean views and is 100 yards from the beach. It is also 100 yards from the pedestrian shopping street, called “the mall”, with its shops, restaurants, bars, etc.
The living room, dining room, first master bedroom, and kitchen are all 28 feet by 16 feet, running the entire length of the house. The elegant living and dining rooms were made for entertaining.
There are seven bedrooms, including two master bedroom suites. The first is furnished with antiques and a king-sized bed. It has both ocean and garden views and a full, ensuite bathroom, with a combined tub and shower. The second master bedroom has a queen-size bed, overlooks the ocean, and has a full bathroom ensuite with a shower. There are five additional bedrooms. One is furnished with a queen-sized bed; one has a double bed; and there are two bedrooms with two twin beds in each. Finally, there is another bedroom/sitting room/TV room, with a twin-sized day bed and a trundle. Four bedrooms face the ocean. Three face the garden. If the ocean breezes do not cool you down, there is also a, three-zone central air conditioning system. There are six full bathrooms: Two are ensuite with the master bedrooms, and four are hall baths. Two of the hall bathrooms have tubs with “telephone-type” showers. One has a combination tub and shower, and one has a shower.
Dine in the formal dining room, which seats 16 adults at two tables; in the garden, under the roofed pergola or in the screened gazebo, or in the intimate, screened dining porch overlooking the garden, or in the kitchen, or in the new family room/playroom, adjacent to the kitchen.
The kitchen has state-of-the-art appliances, including a high-speed Bosch cooktop and twin GE Monogram wall ovens. It is fully equipped with a disposal, dishwasher, microwave, coffee-maker, etc. There also is a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer, together with iron and ironing board. There is a large, fenced garden in back with a children’s playhouse; a large, paved pergola; and a large, screened gazebo, suitable for dining. There is a Weber charcoal grill.
A brand-new, sun-filled family room/playroom, just off the kitchen, offers games, a great place for informal dining, a flat-screen TV, etc.
